Dave's bio:
While traveling in Alaska in 1970, I happened to spend a month camping around Seward. Like today, Seward was an "end of the road" town. I can remember standing at the old ferry dock and looking down Resurrection Bay at an approaching black squall, and feeling the harshness of the place. The mountain glaciers, the cold breeze, and the choppy seas painted a nordic image that stuck in my mind.
I was so impressed that I returned two years later and staked a homestead in Day Harbor. I had no experience with the ocean or bush living, but I gathered tools and traded for a used kayak, then built a log cabin and darkroom, Later, I resurrected an old fishing boat. One thing led to another... and soon beach combing, photography and fishing became a lifestyle that I continue today.
Presently, I live in Seward with my wife Anne and our yellow lab "Keta". In summer, we migrate back to the homestead in Day Harbor.
